Summary:
The Vice President of Emergency and Trauma Services provides strategic leadership for Emergency and Trauma Services line operations, including the implementation of business plans that support the continued growth and success of the Division. Provides operational oversight to ensure the financial viability of initiatives. Establishes and leads a cohesive governance structure that supports the hospitals and physicians. Collaborates with key stakeholders, including department leaders within the service line at the hospital and clinic level. Designs, plans and implements programs that balance the interest of the hospitals within the division.
This key leader represents both internal and external customers. The VP of Emergency and Trauma Services is responsible for communicating with physicians, staff development and retention, developing strategic plans, creating a vision for the respective service line, overseeing budgets, communicating with regulatory agencies, providing proposals for business development, coordinating marketing efforts for the and providing operational guidance and spreading best practices.
The VP Emergency and Trauma Services is responsible for:
Leadership and Governance:
Co-chair of the Advisory Boards within the Division.
Develop financially viable business and organizational models that balance and align the interests of the hospitals within the Division, thereby achieving maximum flexibility for program development.
Guide outreach efforts
Interface with the hospital’s executive team to provide effective management direction for Emergency and Trauma Services programming.
Growth and Expansion of Service Line:
Serve as centralized point person for HealthOne Emergency and Trauma Services model. Negotiate deployment of resources and investment across sites with facility stakeholders.
Lead development of optimal perinatal model and corresponding physician contracting strategy.
Assist hospitals with identification of best strategy and assist with execution where helpful.
Develop and secure formal relationships with acute care hospitals seeking pediatric and perinatal hospital partners. Lead operational assessments and gap analyses for moving forward with partnerships. Quantify success and track outcomes.
Lead programmatic (non-clinical) portion of affiliation process. Supervise resources assigned to affiliation agreement compliance.
Elevate consistency of deployment of the various markets’ brand at Division facilities. Assist hospitals with branding, physical space consistency, staff support of concept, uniforms and other ties to Emergency Services programming
Serve as subject matter expert for planning, data capture, market share, opportunity assessment, marketing, sales and other growth-oriented functions.
Strategic Planning and Business Development:
Formulate and gain approval for strategic and business plans and objectives consistent with the Division/ Hospitals’ mission, goals, and strategies designed to support the community and ensure their mutual success.
Ensure the strategic planning and operational budgeting processes are linked and support the hospital’s plans.
Develop new and enhance existing inpatient and outpatient clinical programs and services to achieve growth opportunities commensurate with availability capacity.
Establish marketing programs that enhance the awareness and preference for the Division’s Emergency and Trauma programs and services among key internal and external customer constituencies.
Physician Relations:
Build long-term relationships with emergency services medical directors in the system as well as consult with other specialists on and off the hospital campus within the various Division’s markets.
In conjunction with the Division VP of Sales, direct the activities physician sales managers
Other:
Ensure compliance with IRS, OIG, and HCFA laws and regulations particularly as they apply to hospital physician’s financial relationships and business structures.
Establish collaborative relationships with key managers and departments in the system hospitals supported by the Institute.
Develop programs to deliver medical services and interact with providers and consumers worldwide through affiliation arrangements, advanced communication and information technology development and if appropriate facility construction.
Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “mission and value Statement.”
Other duties as assigned.
Experience:
More than 7 years healthcare management experience required.
Administrative services and/or program development experience preferred.
Education:
College Graduate Required Undergrad
